ADVANCED MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN
 
Reports To: Production Manager, CBU
Department: Ceramics Business Unit (CBU)
Location: Collingwood, ON
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary Range: $55,000 - $80,000 CAD base salary
Work Schedule: On-site, Monday to Friday, 7am – 3:30pm EST.
 
SUMMARY:
This is a newly created role. The Advanced Manufacturing Production Technician is a skilled technical production role that supports the manufacturing of piezoelectric ceramic. This position requires a background with experience in electronics and electronic test equipment, strong hands-on capability, above-average technical aptitude, and the ability to execute production processes involving electronic systems and production equipment.

This role includes operations such as electronics troubleshooting, computer-assisted testing and reporting, and documentation of revised parameters as they occur. The advanced technician will conduct both routine and non-routine production and associated testing.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform Electrical Polarization Process Involving
·      Polarize piezoelectric ceramic to specification using production equipment
·      Maintain and troubleshoot associated equipment such as fixtures and associated components for production readiness
·      Maintain and document throughput of parts through the process.
·      Inspect incoming quality of parts before polarizing
Perform Initial Quality Assessments
·      Determine and adjust required production parameters for parts as required and generate initial test results for reporting, for both large and small production runs
·      Use electronic testing equipment to test polarized parts for various electrical properties and send results to Quality department.
·      Follow work instructions and schematics with minimal supervision.
Technical Problem Solving
·      Recommend and implement changes to electrical and mechanical fixtures or tooling design in consultation fixturing expert.
·      Assist in root cause investigations and implement corrective / preventive actions.
·      Participate in prototype evaluations and continuous improvement trials.
·      Cross train as requested into other production areas that require an electronics skill set with the CBU.
Documentation & Computer-Based Tasks
·      Use available systems to document part information and throughput
·      Update in-process documentation for approval upon positive results due to changes made.
·      Support poling process during early production phases.
Quality & Compliance
·      Ensure steps are done according to safety and quality procedures
·      Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing environment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Training
·      Degree or certification in electrical engineering technology or equivalent. Electricians with background in electronics and testing equipment are also encouraged to apply.
·      Experience in reading and interpreting work instructions.
·      Experience using electronic test equipment.
Skills
·      Basic computer skills and ability to work with digital work instructions.
·      Troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical defects.
·      Hands on electrical experience and mechanical ability for maintenance purposes.
·      Preferred experience with oil or potted systems, electronic assemblies and related electronic components.
